The 2009 Moose hunting season opens on the 9th September. Do not send SMS or MMS messages until that date. They will not work. Do I need a phone? No a phone is not essential to play, but to enter the competition you need a phone that supports MMS. How much will the game cost me to play?SMS messages and MMS messages sent during game play cost your normal network rate. How much you spend depends on how many you send. By using the map on the homepage of this site (available when the game starts) the minimum cost to enter the competition could be the price of one MMS message. Of course, you can still hunt Moose for the simple pleasure of it and not spend anything. What type of phone do I need?
Are the Moose Real?Yes there really are three Moose out there. When does the game begin and end?The game begins sometime on the 9th September and ends at igfest, Bristol on the 12th September. As the game depends on wild animals we cannot be more specific about times. To be informed the moment Moose move and the game begins text moose to 60300 to sign up for Moose Movement Alerts. How do I find Moose?Once the game starts you can check out the map on this site to see a history of where the Moose have been. After the 9th September, you can get up to the minute positions by texting moose to 60300. You will be returned links to a map showing the Mooses' locations at that time. These links can be viewed on your phone, if it supports web browsing, or on a computer. From then on its up to you. That is, you have to go out into the world, track the moose down and take their pictures. What do I do when I find them?Take their picture. Send this picture via MMS to 60300 with moose in the subject line of the message. Remember, Moose are wild animals. Please do not do anything to disturb or frighten them. Keep your distance – at least 10 metres. Why is my Picture not appearing on the Moose map.Make sure you write moose in the subject line of the MMS message and that you send to 60300. If more than one person sends an image whilst a Moose is at the same location, only the first one is shown on the map. Click on this and the pop up window will show all the images submitted at that place. Also check the gallery. All images are posted here. I have requested the latest position of the Moose but I have had nothing back.Be patient. Mobile networks sometimes drag, especially with SMS delivery. This is out of our hands I am afraid. You will get it eventually. I have sent a picture in via MMS but have had no confirmation. We don't send them as these cost money. Check the Gallery; your picture will appear there. The map only shows the last picture sent to a Moose location. If more than one picture has been sent to that location you can see them by clicking on the image thumbnail. A pop-up box displays them all. |
